May. 25th, 2010 07:03 amThis week is going to be one of those so-much-going-on-shrieking kind of weeks: I'm teaching A-level today for the first time (qualifier: sort of like the jump between high school and first-year degree, depending on how smart the students are) and on friday. I also have an interview at the school I'm currently teaching at for a part time job in September, and man, I really, really want it. When I want something this much I tend to get a bit freaked out about it. *quietly freaks*
So as a distraction I have been:
-finding new icons for my paid time icon space (Wheeeee!)
-finding pictures of male and female models to represent characters so
miss_haitch can turn them into icons for me, so I can:
-post some of the prompt-writing I've been doing lately
-Discovering that my keyboard does not have backslash (woe!) so I cannot go o/ properly (a very new addition to the list!)
-playing Knights of the Old Republic (more on that later)
-oh yeah, and doing a meme:
THE RULES:
• Post this meme and your current wallpaper on your Dreamwidth
• Explain in five sentences or less why you chose it
• Don't change your wallpaper before doing this! The point is to see what you had on!
( Really hot image below cut )

May. 22nd, 2010 09:28 pmDamn you Dreamwidth, for only telling me I had a paid account in an email telling me I had TWO WEEKS OF PAID TIME LEFT *cries*
Whoever gave it to me, thank you very much, and I'm so sorry I didn't notice until it was almost too late!
Quick, quick! What should I do with my paid account that I only just discovered?
(ps the distressed bat is SO AWESOME)

I have been remarkably absent recently, owing mostly to being very busy at school and having three to four hours of marking after getting home and finishing the evening's lesson plans.
Only a few weeks to go, and then I will be here as much as I want to be. As it is, let me say that I am keeping an eye on all of you (but not in a creepy way, just in a reading-my-circle way) and wish everyone health and happiness (or at least getting through things that are hard, which is what I myself am going for).
So there's a point to this post, let me introduce you to my latest crush, Jill Flint, an actress I have seen on The Good Wife:

...Phwoar. Though it's a shame they 'shopped her waist so damn much. She's sexy as hell with a not-terrifying waistline.
(p.s. the Good Wife is definitely in my top 10 TV shows ever, and passes the Bechdel test like a teacher taking SATS (read:easily and awesomely), and is full of awesome women being really really brilliant, and ... yeah. Jill Flint is also smokin' hot.)

meme time!
Apr. 28th, 2010 07:59 pmWell, I really want to get into 3W4DW. I think it's incredibly awesome to see everyone celebrating and having fun. I'm currently working on my own contribution, which will come later and in the form of a 'the world is awesome' picspam, but for now we have meme time!
Post 20 anime/manga/games/films/tv shows' summaries from Better Than It Sounds. Guess them!

20. Crooked Space Cop has problems with hir pre-owned vehicle.
A few of these are so damn obscure *glee!* and I love them.
Apparently with two of my classes, the only way to get full-class attention and silence is to:
a) keep them after class and talk to them about why I need them to be quiet when I am talking (seriously, I haven't heard them be properly silent for more than a few seconds before then);
or,
b) dissect a heart in front of them and tell them about the time I held a human brain.
My main plans are to blind them with stoats and firm discipline. (But not acid, no matter how tempted I may be.) And be a young female teacher when they normally have older men. It's got to make a difference.
I also fell asleep on the bus home a few rows in front of one of my students. *facepalm* Yeah, I'm really putting forward the professional face.
(Also, also, woke up at 5.15am this morning exactly one hour before the alarm, having dreamt my alarm went off. Cue freaking out that the clocks had gone back without my noticing...even though if that had been the case, the alarm and living room clock would, y'know, match. Also cue waking up girlfriend with freakout. This newfangled light-in-the-morning is REALLY screwing up my sleeping patterns.)
Also x 3: this game is so freakin' weird. He just bounces...and wobbles...and rolls...so hypnotically...

First post!
Mar. 18th, 2010 11:57 amHaving been invited to join by my lovely girlfriend
miss_haitch , hello Dreamwidth! It's a lovely sunny day in East England and I hope everyone is well.
To set the mood:
( Look! It's the apogee and perigee of the moon! )
The apogee is the small one, and the perigee is the big one. The Moon's orbit around the Earth isn't circular, it's elliptical, which means that sometimes it's closer and sometimes it's further away. (Most orbits are elliptical. This happens with the Earth and the Sun, though those of us in the Northern hemisphere might be brain-blasted to know that the perigee is in January!)
As an intro to new people via the friending meme ...
You can totally call me Fay. I'm in teacher training and will probably go on and on about science and education (see above!) and teenager-wrangling. I enjoy teaching but I'm still figuring out what to do with myself.
I'm in a relationship with aforementioned lovely girlfriend, and have been for the past six and a half years. I also like to be quietly smug when people can't get their heads round it - at 22, we're pretty young for such a long relationship.
I've identified as mostly straight with girlfriend-oriented leanings for most of my life and only recently have been finding women really really hot. (Mizuo Peck is my latest crush.) I'm totally enjoying embracing my newfound bisexuality. Outrage at a certain TV show is what finally awakened my feminism - pretty much the only good thing it did!
I'm also really, really ashamed I forgot to put Farscape on my interests list, as it's one of the formative shows of my life. Forgive me, Farscape!
I can be very scatty and forget to post or to check internet things, especially when I'm stressed. But I never mean it as a slight against online friends (though that doesn't always mean much) and always welcome people to comment on whatever they want in my journal. It doesn't matter what: ramble away. I'm certainly going to!
